Man rapes five-year-old girl to death in Bayelsa

The Bayelsa Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old man for allegedly raping a five-year-old girl to death in Akedei Community, a riverine suburb in Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

Spokesman of the command, Mr Asinim Butswat, told newsmen on Friday in Yenagoa that the man was arrested on August 9.

According to him, the accused is arrested for sexually assaulting the girl to death in the area.

“The suspect was arrested on August 9, while the corpse of the little girl has been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Yenagoa, for autopsy.

“The suspect is being detained at the Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department, Yenagoa while investigation is ongoing, ” he added.
