The Malumfashi Football Club, Katsina State, has won 2016 Nigeria Nationwide Division II League and secured a ticket to Division 1 in the next season.
Chairman of the club, Alhaji Surajo Baba, said the achievement was a challenge and appealed for individuals and groups to support to the team.
Baba said the team played 11 matches to secure the promotion,
He said the standard of Malumfashi Stadium was poor and needed rehabilitation to boost the team’s performance.
“The match with Halfa Football Club was rescheduled after supporters’ encroachment on the field when a goal was scored.’’
He said the pitch had demarcation and external walls were broken. This led to fixing of continuation of a match in Ranchers Stadium in Kaduna.
Baba appealed to Governor Aminu Masari to rehabilitate Malumfashi stadium and also support the club for higher achievements.

According to him, the club’s players are all home-based, from 11 local government areas of Katsina South senatorial zone.

“The area has hundreds of youths that possess potential in football.’’

He appealed to federal and state governments to tap sport potential in youths to create jobs, alleviate poverty, youth restiveness and drug abuse.
