The APGA candidate for the April 11 governorship election in Nasarawa State, Mr Labaran Maku, on Wednesday vowed to challenge the judgement of the Court of Appeal at the Supreme Court.
Speaking in his country home, Wakama in Nasarawa-Eggon Local Government Area, Maku described the judgment as a “rehash of the earlier judgment of the tribunal’’ but urged the people of the state to remain calm.
He said that his team of lawyers had obtained details of the judgment and studied them and would proceed to the Supreme Court within the stipulated time.
“I am already consulting with my legal team, supporters and other political associates; I assure you that I intend to pursue this case to the final stage of legal opportunity available to me.
“Justice will prevail in spite of the fact that the anti-democratic forces, who conspired and rigged the April 11 election in the state, have continued to follow me to the courts,’’ Maku said.
The former minister of information said he was worried by the kind of judgment being delivered on election cases across the country.
“In this season of change, we are expecting to see vigorous, impartial and reasoned judgments but what we see from tribunals and appeal courts do not speak well of the judiciary,” he added.
Maku noted that so far, the Supreme Court had not decided on any election matter and expressed confidence that the apex court would do justice without fear or favor.
The Appeal Court sitting in Makurdi Novernor 27 dismissed the appeal by Maku challenging the judgment of the tribunal that affirmed the victory of Al-Makura.
