Former Chairman, Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Ahmed Makarfi, has vowed to salvage Nigeria politically and economically if elected president in 2019.
He spoke in Lafia, Nasarawa State on Wednesday when he visited leaders of the party in the North-Central state in continuation of his consultation with opinion leaders.
Makarfi is seeking the party’s ticket to contest the presidential election next year on the platform of the party.
The Nasarawa State PDP Chairman, Francis Orogu, declared that members of the party in the state will support Makarfi’s aspiration.
Speaking at the party secretariat, Orogu said the former governor of Kaduna State deserved their support based on the role he played in making the party formidable.
He assured Makarfi that the state delegates would also mobilise for him.
Makarfi said the visit was to consult with leaders of the party on his intention to contest for 2019 election.
He promised to generate employment to youths, eradicate poverty and address the current security challenges, among others in the country, if elected in the general elections.

“I have made serious impact in all the offices I held in the past, as a banker, commissioner, governor, senator and caretaker chairman of our great party.
“So, since I was able to stabilise PDP in its worse trying moments, I can equally salvage the country in this trying moment if elected as President”.
