Coach Ere Dokubo of Akwa United has said that he least expected losing 0-3 to Shooting Stars Sport Club (3SC) in Ibadan on Sunday.

3SC of Ibadan defeated visiting Akwa United 3-0 in its first outing after the return of Coach Gbenga Ogunbote to the club.

3SC secured its three goals of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) through Sunday Adetunji in the 16th and 59th minutes respectively, and Ajani Ibrahim in the 43rd minute.

Dokubo said that the match, though tough, saw the team made several mistakes, which they realised and would work upon.

He said “we least expected losing the match to 3SC, having played them before and know how they play.

“We made some mistakes and have realised them. We hope to work upon this in our next games.”

He said that the team had to bring onboard five players, namely Amaechi, Fortune, Babajide, Gideon and Alhassan to match up and win the game.

The coach added that the team would work hard in the next matches to prove that they were worthy team in the league by the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Ogunbote, who just took over the coaching of 3SC from Kadri Ikhana, had dedicated the victory to God.

The former 3SC coach commended the players for their courage and commitment to win the match in the first outing after his return.

He also thanked the management of team for availing him another opportunity to coach and for the efforts at bringing on board two new players.

Ogunbote said that the team had no enough players as at today but the management would do more to tackle the issue.

Ogunbote was the former coach of 3SC in the last season of NPFL before Ikhana, who left the team in May, took over.
