Lagos State Police Command has arrested an Inspector attached to Ago Palace Police Station, Tolaju Martins, for allegedly extorting a driver of N40,000.
Martins was arrested after his video went viral on social media counting the money he collected from the driver after his vehicle was impounded for violating the restriction order by the state government.
State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bala Elkana, said after analysing the video, the culprit was identified as Inspector Tolaju Martins.
He said the complainant was also identified and the money extorted was recovered and handed over to him by the Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu.
The CP ordered the Deputy Commissioner of Police in Charge of Criminal Investigation to carry out an in-depth investigation into the activities of officers and men of Ago Police Station as a whole.
Martins has been handed over to the Provost Marshall for Orderly Room Trials.
