Lets be praying for Mandela – ANC

nelson_mandelaThe African National Congress (ANC) has urged South Africans to pray for the improvement of the health of former President Nelson Mandela.

The South Africa ruling party spokesperson, Jackson Mthembu said that South Africans from all walks of life should join in the prayer for a speedy recovery Mandela who suffering from lung infection.

“We appreciate the good work of his medical team; what we can do is to pray for Madiba.

“At the party level we are all praying for him, we are requesting all South African to join us in prayers for Madiba’s speedy recovery,’’ Mthembu said.

He urged the media to give Mandela’s family the privacy and respect they deserve at this moment.

According to the Presidency, the condition of the 94-year-old statesman has not changed since he was admitted in the early hours of Saturday after suffering from a recurring lung infection.

President Jacob Zuma has also reiterated his call on South Africans to pray for Madiba and his family.

The presidency had said in a statement on Monday that Mandela’s condition was serious but stable and that he was breathing.

The name of the hospital where Mandela was admitted has not been made known to the public.

Mandela has been hospitalised six times in Johannesburg and Pretoria since January 2011.

The global icon has been receiving well wishes from South Africans, political parties, foreign governments and tourists.
