Lent: Seek God’s face for nation’s healing, Cleric tells faithful

The Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT) of Motailatu Church of God, (MCG), Senior Superintendent Gabriel Akinadewo, on Wednesday, urged Nigerians to seek God’s face for a complete healing of the land.

Akinadewo, known as Omo Jesu 11, made the appeal during an anointing service to celebrate the beginning of the 2024 lenten period, Ash Wednesday, at the Restoration Parish, Akute, Ogun State of the church.

Akinadewo, whose message centred on repentance, with the theme “Come ye to The Waters”, asked people to turn from their wicked ways and seek forgiveness from God.

According to him, God will heal the country completely if people refrain from bad deeds.

“The Lord’s hand is not shortened that it cannot save Nigeria, neither His ear heavy, that it cannot hear the cries of Nigerians.

“But sin has separated Nigerians from God.
Nigerians must urgently seek the face of God to eradicate the socio-political, economic and security challenges in the country.

” In Isaiah 55:7, the scriptures said “Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts, and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him, and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon”, he said.

The cleric said that the hunger in the land could be solved with sincerity and right policies from those in authority, with God’s backing.

He referenced II Kings 7, where the famine in Samaria became a thing of the past when God sent Prophet Elisha to speak to the people.

The cleric said that insecurity in Nigeria could be likened to what King Jehoshaphat faced in Judah when he was threatened by Moabites and Ammonites.

He made reference to II Chronicles 20:20, where King Jehoshaphat told the people: ‘Believe in the Lord Your God, so shall ye be established. believe His prophets, so shall ye prosper’.

Akinadewo said that, eventually, God destroyed their enemies and the children of Judah started dancing.

He said that the time for God to destroy those fuelling insecurity in Nigeria was here.

The cleric foresaw that Nigerians would dance and rejoice eventually, saying the country would prosper as people turn to God.
