Lawmakers condemn Army, NDLEA attack on community in Edo

Edo House of Assembly has condemned the attack by operatives of the Nigerian Army and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on Ukpuje Community in Owan West Local Government of the state on Oct. 27.

 

The Speaker, Chief Blessing Agbebaku made this known during plenary on Tuesday in Benin.

 

Agbebaku said that the attack led to the unfortunate death of one person, while several others were seriously injured.

 

Agbebaku appealed to Gov Monday Okpebholo and the Commissioner of Police to ensure a thorough investigation into the incident to uncover the circumstances surrounding the attack.

 

The lawmakers condemned the vicious attack on the people of the Ukpuje community, which led to the gruesome murder of one person and several others injured by operatives of the Nigerian army and NDLEA.

 

The lawmakers unanimously appealed that a panel of enquiry be set up to investigate the unfortunate incident.

 

In another development, the Edo House of Assembly has screened three nominees, namely Felix Imoisilli, Prof. David Osifo and Martins Omozogie as members of the Edo State Judicial Service Commission
