Lamido: Kwankwaso, Wamakko are traitors

Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa State has described his counterparts in Kano and Sokoto states, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Aliyu Wamakko, as traitors.
He said if Nigerians could vouch for the integrity of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari, it is not going to be the same story for those around the former Head of State.
“Even though we agree Buhari is honest and sincere, but what about his followers or those behind him? Are they clean like him? It really surprised me for people like Kwankwaso, Wamakko and others alike, who nurtured their political profile on the platform of the PDP, to come overnight and betray such a party. To me, that’s a great insult. These people are traitors. I urge you PDP members to challenge and fight for redress.
“We are not against Buhari’s candidature for presidency under his party, but our concern is about the betrayals of the PDP defectors to APC. We will not relent in our efforts towards recapturing all our defectors who, before their defection, were PDP products,” he said.
The Adamawa governor spoke in Maigatari, the headquarters of Maigatari Local Government, Jigawa State at the ongoing state campaign of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the February 14 and 28 general elections.
While describing Buhari as an honest, transparent and incorruptible leader, he said same could not be said of other APC leaders.
He continued: “We don’t have any grudge with APC as a political party, neither its members, but our former colleagues with whom we suffered for the formation of the PDP and struggled for the restoration of social justice in our party, good governance and stable democracy. Because of corruption and selfish interest, they reverted to APC, a party of aggrieved and rebellious elements.
“I, therefore, urge you, the Maigatari PDP family and beyond, never to allow yourselves to be misled during elections. Be cautious of your future and vote PDP for peace, progress and stability of our great country”
He later presented the party’s candidates for various elective positions ranging from Senate, House of Representatives and House of Assembly to the elated crowd.
The state PDP chairman, Salisu Mamuda, urged party members to eschew violence “before, during and after the election”.
