The Police Headquarters in Abuja has arrested and detained socialite, Gail Fajembola, over alleged conversion and leasing out an apartment she was asked to temporarily occupy at Banana Island, Lagos.

According to reports, the said apartment is owned and managed by Olutoyl Estate Development and Services Limited.

In a petition dated June 13, 2025 and addressed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), the Estate’s Solicitor, Legal Resources Alliance said the apartment was initially released to Fajembola on humananitarian grounds only for her to later forge documents claiming ownership of the apartment for purpose of leasing to unsuspecting clients.

“It is important to emphasise that Ms. Gail Fajembola was initially permitted to temporarily reside in the apartment strictly on humananitarian grounds based on her pleas of homelessness at the time. This act of kindness by our Client was never intended to confer tenancy rights or authority to sublet,” the petition reads in part.

The petition further detailed that Fajembola through her company, GIF Energy Resources Limited, allegedly not only rented out the apartment but received rent to the tune of over N100 million for the past four years without notifying or remitting same to the owner of the apartment.

Meanwhile, officers of the Police headquarters in Abuja have since picked up Fajembola with assurances that investigations into the petition will be swift and professionally handled.
