The Police Command in Lagos State has launched investigation into a viral video showing a uniformed officer being assaulted by a mob, over an allegations of stealing.
Freedomonline reports that the footage, which began circulating on Wednesday, showed the yet-to-be-identified officer seated on the ground, with blood dripping from his mouth.
There were shouts from a visibly irate crowd of “Ole! Ole!”, translated in Yoruba to mean thief.
Reacting to the video on Thursday, spokesperson for the command, SP Abimbola Adebisi, in a post on her X handle, @AbimbolaShotayo, confirmed that the command had seen the footage and had began investigations.
“We are aware of the viral video and are investigating to determine the full circumstances.
“Updates will follow soon,” Adebisi wrote.
