babatunde_fasholaDespite the Eid-el-Fitri holiday, Lagos sports arena bubbled at the weekend with various associations staging their Quarterly Inter-Clubs Competitions.

In the Volleyball Inter-Clubs Competition finals played at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Fashola Babes were a delight to watch as they overpowered their opponents, Team Lagos 3-0 in the female category of the two days tournament.

Team Lagos, who won bronze medal in the Volleyball event at last year’s National Sports Festival, looked ordinary on the court as Fashola Babes taught them how to play good Volleyball. Legacy Volleyball Club defeated Unity Volleyball Club 2-0 to win the male’s event of the competition.

Eight teams featured in the championship which was organised by Lagos State Volleyball Association with facilitating resources from Lagos State Ministry of Youth, Sports and Social Development and the Office of Grassroots Sports Development.

In table tennis finals played at the Indoor Hall of Mobolaji Johnson, Rowe Park, Yaba, Lagos, players of Spring Fresh Table Tennis Club were the cynosure of all eyes as the table tennis players showcased their talents. Mojeed Olayiwola of Spring Fresh was at his best when he defeated David Fayemi of Union Bank Table Tennis Club in the men’s singles final played. Olayiwola gave good account of himself when he defeated his counterpart, Fayemi 4-2 to emerge the champion.

Shortly after his victory, Olayiwola said the victory was well deserved but admitted that his opponent gave him a tough game throughout the encounter. He said the victory will spur him to perform well in the forthcoming International Classic Table Tennis Championship scheduled for Lagos.

In the Women’s singles final, Morufat-Idris defeated Tolu Durosimi Etti 4-2 to emerge winner. In the junior Girls singles, Bose Odusanya humbled Alimat Ayinla 4-1, while Azeez Ogunlade thrashed Rilwan Akanbi 4-2 in the junior boys singles final.
