Misconduct: Police Service Commission dismisses 10 officers, demotes eight

Nigeria Police Force

Two suspected thugs were killed in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital during the governorship/House of Assembly polls.
In Ilaje, Ondo State, two thugs were also killed while trying to disrupt the process.
Aside the two killed in Lafia, scores were also arrested while attempting to attack a collation centre.
Freedom Online learned that the thugs attempted to attack the centre when they realised the result of the election was not going in favour of their candidate.
Some youths in the area attacked and killed them. While one died on the spot, the other died in the hospital.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ismaila Umar Numan, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), confirmed the incident.
In Ondo, the thugs were shot dead by naval officers during a crisis that erupted in the election.
Arms and ammunition were also recovered from them.
Because of the crisis, the state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mr Olusegun Agbaje, said results of the two constituencies in the volatile Ilaje Local Government had been put on hold.
He said: “The violence in Ilaje led to the cancellation in several polling units with total registered voters that have effect on the final result if elections were not cancelled in those polling units.
“The Returning Officers for Ilaje Constituency I and II were forced to declare the results under duress by armed thugs, although the cancelled polling units could affect the final result. The Returning Officers in separate reports to REC declared the results inconclusive because the outcome of the cancelled votes could change the final results accordingly.”
