The Olubadan-Designate of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has described the life of Ibadan-born corporate titan and founder of Kola-Daisi University, Bashorun Kola Daisi, as exemplary and worthy of emulation.
Defying the presence of a large crowd at his Bodija residence on Monday, Oba Ladoja visited Bashorun Daisi at his Iyaganku home to personally congratulate him on the occasion of his 93rd birthday.
Oba Ladoja, who referred to the nonagenarian billionaire businessman as his mentor, said:

“Baba, you may not know how much you mean to us. You are an inspiration. We value your immense contributions to our socio-economic development. We celebrate your academic exploits, from Ibadan Boys High School in 1951 to the London School of Economics. The lives you have touched through your business investments and philanthropy are countless. It is our prayer that God will grant you long life to celebrate many more years in good health.”
The Olubadan-Designate noted that in life, there are forerunners who must be followed to avoid pitfalls. He mentioned Bashorun Daisi as one of such guiding figures, alongside the likes of Asiwaju Bode Amao, the late Dr. Victor Olunloyo, the late High Chief Omowale Kuye, the late Barrister Kareem Latunji, and the late Otunba Subomi Balogun. According to him, humanity is blessed to have had such a galaxy of stars.
In his response, Bashorun Daisi expressed gratitude to Oba Ladoja and his entourage for finding time in his busy schedule to honour him with the visit.
Flanked by his son, the Osi Olubadan-Designate, Oba Abiodun Kola-Daisi, the elder statesman congratulated Oba Ladoja on his emergence as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
He emphasised the significance of longevity in the Ibadan chieftaincy system and said he was proud to witness Oba Ladoja’s elevation.
Bashorun Daisi congratulated the people of Ibadan on the monarch’s emergence and prayed for God’s blessings of long life, wisdom, knowledge, and understanding for the new Olubadan as he discharges his duties to the people.
