Unidentified gunmen have kidnapped the traditional ruler of Elete town in Kogi State, Chief Aminu Aku.
Aku was kidnapped by a gang of five masked gunmen about 8:30 pm on Friday in his town located on the Lokoja-Ajaokuta highway.
The incident came barely 24 hours after the kidnap of two chieftains of the Kwara State chapter of the APC on the Lokoja-Okene road.

Aku, a third class traditional ruler, was said to be returning from a function at Ajaokuta and was just alighting from his car when he was abducted.

He was subsequently driven away in a vehicle brought by the abductors.

The gunmen had already called to demand for a N10 million ransom.

The state Police Commissioner, Mr Yakubu Usman , however, said that the abduction of the traditional ruler was yet to be confirmed.
Meanwhile, Mrs Ubong Assam, the wife of the traditional ruler of Esit Eket in Akwa Ibom, was delivered of a baby girl on Friday, May 13, while in custody of her kidnappers.
A family source, who pleaded anonymity, said in Esit Eket, Esit Eket Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, on Saturday that the monarch’s wife gave birth to the baby in an unknown hideout of her abductors
The kidnappers abducted the traditional ruler’s wife and her four children in the Akpautong neighbourhood of Esit Eket on April 29.

The source said that the kidnappers quickly released the woman and her four children due to the birth of the baby in their den.

Reacting to the development, the Police Public Relations Officer in Akwa Ibom, ASP Cordelia Nwawe, said that the command expressed appreciation to God for the safe delivery of the monarch’s wife.

She, nonetheless, said that the command had yet to receive any information about the release of the kidnapped woman and her four children.

The traditional ruler’s wife and her four children were released on May 14.
