The All Progressives Congress (APC) says the party is prepared for the January 27 inauguration of Alhaji Yahaya Bello as governor of Kogi State.
National Chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, said this on Monday in Abuja.
“All I can say is that the party is fully prepared for any conceivable scenario on the issue of a deputy governor in Kogi State,’’ Odigie-Oyegun said.
The APC flag bearer for the governorship position, Prince Abubakar Audu, died on the day the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the election results inconclusive.
Following the development, Audu’s deputy, Mr James Faleke, declared himself as governor-elect and subsequently rejected a joint ticket with the party’s choice of Bello.
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari and his deputy, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, are among the dignitaries expected at the January 27 inauguration of Alhaji Yahaya Bello in Lokoja, the state capital.
This is contained in a statement on Monday in Lokoja by Alhaji Ishak Ajibola, the Chairman, Media and Publicity Committee set up for the inauguration ceremony.
The statement said that the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, governors, ministers and chieftains of APC were invited to the event.
According to the statement, the event would hold at the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja and feature cultural display among other side attractions.
It stated that law enforcement agents have been directed to take strategic positions in and around the venue to ensure a hitch- free event.
“Motorists moving in and out of Lokoja are advised to comply with speed limit on the roads and obey traffic rules to avoid unnecessary traffic.
“The people are enjoined to be orderly, peaceful and cooperate with law enforcement agents,’’ the statement said.
