A 35-year-old relative of former President Goodluck Jonathan, Samuel Oki, has been killed by kidnappers.
Security sources said the same kidnappers, who abducted Jonathan’s uncle, Chief Inegite Jonathan, killed Oki.
It is believed he was trying to prevent the kidnappers from taking the 72-year-old Pa Jonathan away when he was shot dead on Wednesday.
His body was found floating by fishermen and divers in Otuoke, Bayelsa State, on Friday.
Some residents did not even know that Oki was kidnapped alongside the septuagenarian “but we heard gunshots when the old man was being taken away forcefully and we thought they were shooting into the air to scare away security men, not knowing that they had killed Oki”, said a source.
Family members are already in a panic mood over the safety of Pa Jonathan.
Oki’s body had been deposited at a morgue in Otuoke.
Spokesperson for Bayelsa State Police Command, Asini Butswat, confirmed the incident.
The kidnappers are yet to establish contact with family members.
