The Super Eagles chief coach, Stephen Keshi, has officially complained to the officials of the Nigeria Football Federation over his displeasure that his players will not get a chance to train in Kenya before Wednesday’s 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier against the Harambee Stars.
The African champions departed Houston, Texas in the US at 4pm on Saturday via a Lufthansa flight and arrived in Nuremburg, Germany in the early hours of Sunday.
The NFF president, Alhaji Aminu Maigari, disclosed that the African champions will arrive in Nairobi, Kenya en route Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on Tuesday ahead of Wednesday’s crucial encounter against the Harambee Stars.
“Like you know, the contingent departed Houston, USA on Saturday evening and arrived in Nuremburg on Sunday morning.
“They will spend one night in Germany before proceeding to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia Monday. The expected arrival date for the Super Eagles in Kenya is Tuesday,” Maigari stated.
The team’s coach has stated that with the travel plans arranged for them by the NFF, there will be no major training session for the team upon arrival in Nairobi, Kenya.
“We won’t have the opportunity to have a good feel of the pitch in Kenya on Tuesday when we arrive in Kenya. This is frustrating and it does not favour us more so when we are playing an important World Cup qualifiers game against a tough Kenya team that held us to a draw in our home ground.
The Eagles are topping the Group F table of the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying on five points from three games.
