Kaduna Utd FC Supporters Club writes El-Rufa’i on club’s condition

Kaduna United FC Supporters Club has written Governor Nasiru El-rufa’i on the condition of the state-owned club, saying the incumbent management could no longer run it to benefit the players and stakeholders.

The letter, dated July 11, was signed by the club’s Secretary, Danjuma Kyaure.

The letter said on Tuesday in Kaduna that they agreed with the governor on his personal, official and council resolutions in the governance of the state.

It said that they also believed that such decisions or resolutions were progressive and that as citizens, they were ready to support progressive resolutions no matter how painful they might be.

It noted that El-Rufa’i was privy to the decision which paved the way for the emergence of Emmanuel Babayaro and Co as the Chairman and Management of the Kaduna United.

“But today, we feel the decision is not suitable to Nigerian football and that the said Emmanuel Babayaro was not sincere in his official conduct in the managing the club.

“Emmanuel Babayaro is not financially sound to run the activities of a football club anywhere in Nigeria.

“Your Excellency, you will agree with us that you cannot run anything viable without funds,’’ the letter said.

“The players and all other employees of this club are not paid salaries and bonuses and as such the agreement reached between the friends of football and the players were not met.

“But because we have the name of our state and your name as the Executive Governor of our state to protect, it is important that you take an urgent decision.

“The welfare of the players is paramount for a team to succeed and for the development of the players to stardom.’’

The letter said that five players were accommodated in a room and their feeding money was inadequate and always very late.

“By this, we call on the governor to employ all machinery necessary to ensure that adequate and sustainable welfare of the players are provided.

“Note that in all our away matches, Kaduna United was fed and transported back home by the home team, that is, our opponents after noticing our financial predicament.

“This is not a good image to our state and our governor.

“In conclusion, we pray the governor will take over the sponsorship of the club and bring in people that can judiciously handle its financial aspect,’’ it said.

The letter pleaded with El-Rufa’i to form a board under the Chairmanship of either Emmanuel Babayaro or any other person that is competent to discharge such responsibilities in accordance with the statutes of Nigeria Football Federation.

It added that such a board would be supervised by the Kaduna State Football Association (FA).

It also urged the governor to create time out of his busy schedules to meet with the players, officials and the supporters club to enable him to see how the club was being run.
