It was jubilation galore on Friday at the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps in Durumi, Abuja and Suleja, Niger State as the Dr. Dakuku Peterside-led Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) donated relief materials to adults and youths in the camps.

Since he assumed office, Peterside, the Director-General of the Agency, has always reiterated the need to always engage in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to alleviate the suffering of the masses in parts of the country.
The NIMASA team to the camps was led by the Director, Special Duties, Hajia Lami Tumaka.

Adults and youths in the camp were surprised when they saw hundreds of bags of rice, cartons of food, bottled water, vegetable oil, clothings, medication, mattresses and others being offloaded from trucks at the premises.
Hajia Tumaka, a grandmother, played a motherly role during the visit as she assured the recipients that NIMASA would still do more to alleviate their suffering.

Moved by the situation of some of the kids, she gave them cash gifts.
Women at the camps started singing for her and other officials who donated the items to them.
After inspecting facilities at the premises, she promised that “more will still come in the area of intervention to ensure that nobody starves in IDPs”.

She told the happy recipients that the intervention was part of NIMASA’s Corporate Social Responsibility and called on well-meaning Nigerians to extend hands of love to the less privileged in the society.
Amidst cheers, she said: “We look at the situation of those in IDPs and we have come to make our contributions. I want to assure you that NIMASA will do more”.

She also sympathised with one of the victims of insurgency, Abubakar Sha, who lost his two wives and four children.
The women and children could not hide their joy as they embraced her.
Spokesman of Durumi Camp, Idris Ibrahim, said: “We feel highly elated that NIMASA has come to visit us in the month of Ramadan when some people are going through fasting. This is an important visit from an A-Class government agency. We thank you”.
Women Leader of the camp, Liatu Ayuba, was also full of praises for NIMASA.
She said: “We want to thank NIMASA for helping us with food, clothings, medication and others. NIMASA is really worth celebrating. We thank you for this gesture”.
