Jubilation in Oyo over court ruling on Buhari

From Bode Durojaiye, Oyo.

Thousands of Oyo residents on Wednesday rolled out the drums to jubilate ruling of an Abuja High Court on the eligibility suit filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari.
Elated residents, who danced round major streets amid tight security, chanted pro-Buhari songs and songs of praise to Almighty God for circumventing the diabolical wish of the PDP against the APC candidate.
The occasion coincided with a mega rally organized for APC candidates for governorship, Abiola Ajimobi, Oyo Central Senatorial and incumbent Speaker, House of Assembly, Monsurat Sunmonu, Oyo Federal Constituency, Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi and Atiba State Constituency, Adekunle Alagbon.
It also featured wives of the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, members of the Oyo-Mesi, as well as
popular Yoruba artistes like Muyiwa Ademola, Faithia Balogun, Femi Adebayo, Olaniyi Afonja and Adekola Tijani, among others.
Addressing the large crowd at Owode, Prince Adeyemi said but for the divine wisdom of the trial judge who adjourned the matter to enable APC Presidential candidate contest the election and not restraining him, the PDP would have by now embark on show of shame round major streets across the country.
Adeniyi said one of the challenges facing the nation lies in the image that others outside the country have about Nigerians.
“Will foreigners see the elections as just another illustration of the conspiracy of the politics of deception and the politics of the belly coming together in the periodical appeals to the common masses of this most populated African land by the Goodluck Jonathan-led administration? Foreign images are difficult to change, but if Nigerians, who have been commissioned for heinous activities by desperate politicians can spare and save lives of fellow Nigerians in their struggle for power, chances are foreigners will come to see the
human spirit of this people and give the benefit of doubt of kudos to their Nigerian partners. Another challenge facing the country lies in the decline of political greed some politicians have been eternally reviled as greedy.’’
He made it clear that the PDP is driven by greed and sit-tight
syndrome with power as demonstrated in the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) recent rally in Lagos.
“Those who seek for political development in Nigeria must, therefore, see the coming elections as a warning for bad things to come or the beginning of an elaborate and painful breakaway from political backwardness.’’
Adeniyi, therefore, urged residents to vote en-masse for Muhammadu Buhari and all APC candidates in order to usher in new dawn of responsible governance anchored on equity, justice and fairness.
