Two branded campaign vehicles, Hiace bus and Hilux van, belonging to the Goodluck Jonathan Presidential Campaign Organisation were, on Sunday, burnt by some angry youths in Suleja, Niger State.
Freedom Online learnt that what angered the youth was the pro-Jonathan campaign songs coming from the speakers attached to the vehicles.
The plea by the state Commissioner for Sports, Abdullahi Garba, to the youth fell on deaf ears. He was told to leave the scene immediately if he valued his life.
The two vehicles were coming from a rally in Sabon Wuse when the drivers and others on the entourage met the hostile youths on the road.
While drivers of other vehicles and the occupants escaped, the two vehicles were blocked by the angry youths. They, however, allowed the drivers to disembark before setting the vehicles on fire. The drivers ran away immediately.
Some of the youth were seen shouting that PDP should not come to Suleja to campaign for any candidate.
Suleja is a volatile town in the North-Central state.
Soldiers later stormed the scene to restore law and order. It is, however, not clear if any arrest was made.
