For his alleged involvement in the sharing of the $2.1 billion arms cash, the Acting Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Haliru Bello Mohammed, has been removed.
He has been replaced by the Secretary of BoT, Senator Walid Jibril.
Jibril will combine the offices of the Secretary and Acting Chairman, pending the time a substantive Chairman will be named.
The announcement was made on Wednesday at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.
Jibril himself announced the changes.
The BoT also said as a special organ, it cannot be regulated by any other organ of the party.
The ‎ National Working Committee (NWC) had, in a statement on Monday, postponed the proposed meetings of the National Caucus, the BoT and the National Executive Committee (NEC), which were earlier scheduled this week for the adoption of a new National Chairman for the party.
In the statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh,‎ the NWC said the National Caucus would meet on Monday next week while the BoT and NEC hold on Tuesday.
But despite the rescheduling of the meetings, the BoT still met on Wednesday.
