The Iyalode of Yorubaland, Iyalode Alaba Lawson, said the late former Head of Interim National Government (ING), Chief Ernest Shonekan, has left his footprints and name on the roll call of honours, who was full of wisdom and strength.
Lawson stated this in a condolence message to the deceased family, adding that she received with heavy heart the news of passing away of the Egba High Chief and a quiet philanthropist.
‘It is with heavy hearts I received the news of the passing away into eternal glory of His Excellency, High Chief Ernest Adegunle Shonekan GCFR, a thorough bred Egba son. A great disciplinarian and quiet philanthropist who had touched so many lives positively’
Lawson noted that there is time for every season under the sun, adding that the late former interim leader lived a fulfilled life, who was full of wisdom which saw him through his brief time on the seat of Presidency of Nigeria
The Iyalode added that, the late Sonekan will be sorely missed, adding that the console was that he has gone to rest, prayed that God grant the entire family the fortitude to bear the great loss and bid him a final rest
