WAFU U-17: Nigeria defeat Burkina Faso, qualify for final

Arsenal player, Alex Iwobi, on Wednesday scored a brace as Super Eagles thrashed Plateau United 3-0 in a game played in preparation for the 2018 World Cup qualifying match against Zambia in Ndola.
The match, played at the main bowl of the National Stadium, Abuja, saw Anderson Esiti, scoring the first goal in the 39th minute of the game, before Iwobi’s brace in the 57th minute and 90th minute.

Esiti who plays for Gent FC Belgium, got the Eagles opening goal after Ahmed Musa failed to snatch the lead against his former club.

The Eagles were clinical in the midfield, as the likes of Mikel Obi and Ogenyi Onazi created several chances which Iwobi who came in as substitute converted.

Plateau United gave the Gernot Rohr’s tutored side tough time, but were unable to find target.

The victory has motivated the team, which parades about six home-based and 17 foreign-based players as they prepare for the team’s opening World Cup qualifier against Zambia in Ndola, on Sunday.
Fans stampeded the players to take photographs with them after overwhelming policemen deployed to provide security.
The mob, however, prevented the technical crew and players from talking to the press as they were escorted by the policemen into the team’s waiting vehicle.

The team is scheduled to depart Abuja for Ndola for the encounter on Saturday.
