Israel stops Indonesian Foreign Minister from entering West Bank

Israel has prevented Indonesian Foreign Minister, Retno Marsudi, from entering the Palestinian Territories to appoint an honorary consul, the Ministry said on Monday in a statement.
“Retno was forced to conduct a ceremony installing Maha Abu-Shusheh as Indonesia’s first honorary consul in Ramallah in Amman, Jordan, on Sunday after Israel refused to grant a Jordanian Air Force helicopter carrying her an overflight permit.
“Ramallah, in the central West Bank, is the administrative capital of the Palestinian Authority.
“The lack of a permit did not dampen Indonesia’s determination to install the consul in Ramallah,” the ministry said.
It said that a last-minute arrangement was made to hold the ceremony in Amman, which went smoothly.
Indonesia, world’s largest Muslim-majority country, is a staunch supporter of the Palestinian quest for statehood and has no diplomatic relations with Israel.
