Iorfa wins young player award

Wolverhampton Wanderers defender, Dominic Iorfa, has emerged winner of The Football League Young Player Award for January 2015.
The teenager is son of former Nigerian international, Dominic Iorfa, who is at present vice chairman cum technical director of Nigeria’s top flight side, Lobi Stars.
The Young Player Award covers the three divisions of the Sky Bet Football League.
Iorfa has been impressive for Kenny Jackett’s side since making his debut against Bournemouth, on December 6.
Interestingly, the England under-19 defender became a key member of the Wolves back four that earned three clean sheets in the Championship in January, after two victories and two draws, respectively.
Iorfa’s impressive outing coincided with a resurgence by Wolves in which Jackett’s side were unbeaten and closed the gap on the play-off pack.
“I’ve seen some of the other players that have won it and they are all good young players who have been doing really well, so for me to be in that group of winners is very good and I’m very happy.
“It’s been a good few months for me and I just want to push on from here,” he said.
Speaking during the presentation of the award, Jackett said: “Dominic is a very level-headed young man with a professional attitude to his football and that will stand him in good stead just as much as his ability”.
The League Young Player Award is for young players who are under 21 years or playing in the season which he turns 21 in England’s three lower divisions: Championship, League One and League Two.
