Mr Johnson Magaji, the Ujah Anaguta in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau, has craved support for the military and other security agencies charged with tackling insecurity in the country.

The Ujah made the call when Maj.-Gen. Abdusalami Ibrahim, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division of the Nigeria Army, Rukuba, and Commander Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) visited him on Saturday in Jos.

Magaji maintained that the security agencies needed encouragement and motivation from members of the public, hence the need for civilians to cooperate with them to promote safety of lives and property.

”I wish to first of all commend the security agencies, especially the military, for the sacrifices you are making to secure this country and its citizens.

”I find it quite unfortunate when I see people criticize and malign the military or security agencies on the social media.

”Our security agencies need motivation, prayers and encouragement to be able to continually discharge their constitutional role of protecting us, the citizens.

”So, we must support and cooperate with the security agencies to fight the enemies of peace,” he said.

The paramount ruler also called on the citizens to adopt dialogue and alternative dispute resolution as a mechanism in resolving their differences, instead of taking laws into their hands.

The Ujah thanked the GOC for the visit and promised to cooperate with, and support him, to succeed in his bid to restore lasting peace to Plateau and environs.

Earlier, the GOC had said that a few bad elements were responsible for the insecurity in the state.

” With the support and cooperation of the people, the security challenges in the state can be adequately be tackled.

”Plateau has all it takes to be ahead of other states economically, if lasting peace is achieved.

”We will do everything within our powers to restore the desired peace to Plateau and Nigeria,” he said

He called on traditional rulers and religious leaders to desist from inciting sermons capable of igniting conflicts in the society.
