mikel_obiSuper Eagles mercurial midfielder, Mikel Obi, who has been recuperating from a hip injury has disclosed that he would be fit to return to training at his English Premier League side, Chelsea FC before the week runs out.

The Nigerian star noted that, when he would be returning he would have fully recovered from the injury.

The player was not listed in weekend’s EPL cracker against Manchester United which the Blues won 1-0 courtesy of a Manchester United own goal.

He was also omitted for the Europa League semi-final second leg match against FC Basel which Chelsea also won due to the injured hip.

Mikel is expected to play a key role in next month’s hectic schedule that will see Nigeria play two 2014 World Cup qualifiers and also feature at the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup in Brazil.

Mikel has declared that he would be back to training in few days.

“I am injured. I have waist pain and that is why I was not listed for the game against Manchester United,” he disclosed.

“It has been so for a few days now. I will be okay soon. In a matter of days I will be alright and get back to training ahead of the weekend game.”

Chelsea will face London rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday in an important English Premier League game and Mikel is likely to again miss this fixture that could go a long way in determining the clubs to finish in the Top four and qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
