INEC: No fresh candidates for Anambra Central senatorial re-run election

Anambra State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Anambra, Dr. Lawrence Azubuike, has declared that new aspirants from political parties will not be allowed to contest in the re-run Anambra Central Senatorial election of March 5.
Azubuike stated this in a press statement he gave to newsmen in Awka, the state capital.
The statement reads: “Following the Court of Appeal, Enugu Division judgement on December 7, 2015, the re-run election would be held in the zone on March 5.
“Pursuant to the said judgement, only political parties and candidates that participated in the March 28, 2015 senatorial election in Anambra central Senatorial District will participate in the re-run election.’
The commissioner called on all stakeholders, voters and citizens to participate in the March 5 re -run election.

The statement said the commission will strictly apply all the provisions of all relevant laws governing the election.

It further stated that all parties, their candidates and supporters, should adhere strictly to all laws and guidelines regulating the process.

The statement urged all duly registered voters to go and cast their votes at the polling units where they were registered.
