To celebrate Nigeria’s 64th independence anniversary, Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Ltd., operators of the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal Two (MMA2), on Tuesday, thrilled passengers with a unity parade.
The company’s Aviation Security (AVSEC) Unit held a parade in the terminal for 30 minutes, displaying togetherness.
The organisation’s Head, Aviation Security, Ms Monica Oguta, said the parade was the second in the series and the personnel were trained by the Nigerian Air Force.
“This is our own way of showing patriotism, and this gives us a sense of unity.
“Irrespective of the circumstances, I always encourage my men to be optimistic and expect better things and better days.
“I want to also encourage the youth to keep an open mind, learn skills and not wait on government for everything,” she said.
The organisation’s Head of Space and Premises, Mr Kola Bamigboye, described the parade as a show of passion for Nigeria.
Bamigboye said that the men on parade displayed unity and hard work.
Also, Mr Remi Jibodu, Bi-Courtney’s Head of Aeronautics and Cargo Services and Acting Chief Operating Officer, said that the parade demonstrated resilience.
Jibodu said that the parade was a symbol of collective hard work and passion for the country, urging Nigerian to be hopeful for a greater country.
He said the company was committed to delivering its promises on innovations.
The Head of Corporate Communications of the company, Mrs Ajoke Yinka-Olawuyi, said the parade was to keep hope alive, adding that Bi-Courtney would not relent on the safety and security of airport users.
Princess Elemanya Ebilah, a retired civil servant and a former Director of Finance, Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, said the parade was thrilling.
Ebilah said the songs were historical and brought back fond memories, adding that the words of the National Anthem resonated.
“Nigeria will be great again. Nigeria must be united,” she said.
The Nigerian Air Force, Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Army, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria and others were present at the event.
Travellers were seen clapping and chanting the National Anthem.
