Business activities resumed at the headquarters of Ikeja Electric Plc on Thursday after three days of industrial dispute with unions over the sack of 400 workers.
All the six business units under the company had commenced operations as many customers stormed the places to complain or make payment.
Mr Idris Sanni, Chairman, Somolu CDA, had appealed to Federal Government to intervene in the crisis between the company and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).
According to Sanni: “We don’t understand the rivalry between the union and Ikeja Electric because as it stands power supply has gone from bad to worse within the last three days in my area.
“We believe that there are better ways of resolving the rift between them order than making it to the detriment of customers at large.
“It is also believed that the best way for such to be resolved is simply by engaging the discos in dialogue,’’ he said.
Mrs Rakiyat Salam, the Managing Director, Franklass Ventures, said that power supply had deteriorated in the last thee days.
“We have been subjected to difficult times by the power sector.
“For the past three days, we have had to contend with poor power supply which hindered our production and increased our cost.
“Prior to this time, we in Ikeja district enjoyed power for up to seven to eight hours in a day.”
The company’s Head of Corporate Communications, Mr Felix Ofulue, said the poor service was due to the activities of the labour unions which were “picketing” the company.
Ofulue said that the company had tendered apologies to the public for the power outage.
“This situation has impacted negatively on the power supply as well as purchase of recharge units because all the substations, business units and undertakings were taken over by the protesting unions.”
