Alleged fraud: EFCC re-arraigns Suswam, Benue ex-Finance Commissioner Okolobia

Gabriel Suswam

gabriel_suswamGov. Gabriel Suswam of Benue on Sunday said he would clarify his future political ambition in 2014.

The governor said this at Konshisha-Mbakpuul in Konshisa Local Government Area during a fund raising for two schools in the community.

At the occasion, prominent members of the community said they had endorsed the governor as the Senatorial candidate for the Benue North East District.

Chief Barnabas Gemade is the incumbent senator representing the zone.

Although Suswam, a two-term governor, has not yet declared his intention to vie for the seat, groups and associations had continued to hold consultations on his behalf.

Suswam commended the leaders for organising the event and directed the state Commissioner for Education to liaise with the community for the purpose of intervention.

He, however, made a personal donation of N3 million for the development of the two schools and urged other donors to donate generously.

Suswan also charged leaders to show humility by identifying with their people through supporting the development of rural communities.

The governor urged them to scrutinise those making consultations for political offices before endorsing them for such offices.

He also warned against choosing the wrong people to fill the newly approved first class chiefs in the four chiefdoms in Tivland.

The governor dismissed threats of the merger party as “the noise of a drowning man”.

He said the PDP would never be intimidated by such mergers, saying “strong people stay in the ring alone to face challenges and not through mergers”.

He said the merger only showed the strength of the PDP and assured that the party would continue to grow stronger.

Speaking at the occasion, the organiser of the event, Chief Awuhe Kyongo, said the community leaders in the area had concluded arrangements to ensure that the governor had a smooth sail during the 2015 election.
