I can never defect from PDP, says ex-Kogi governor Idris

Former governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, on Monday, told those spreading the rumour of his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) to wake from their nightmare.
He said it would be an act of foolishness and ungratefulness to leave the party that gave him the ticket to be governor for two terms.
“I remain a staunch member and leader of the PDP. It is very ridiculous for me to leave a house that I built to become a tenant in another person’s house. I have not left and there was no basis for me to consider leaving,” he said while presenting the report of the Kogi State Elders Advisory Committee to Governor Idris Wada at the Government House, Lokoja.
The former governor is the chairman of the committee.
He said: “Nothing has happened to warrant my defection to the opposition. Elders of our party are working very hard to ensure the victory of the party in the March 28 and April 11 elections.
“Honestly, our state has recorded tremendous progress under the leadership of Governor Idris Wada. The governor requires the support of all Kogi indigenes to succeed. We must all ensure that peace reigns during the elections. I can also tell you that PDP will deliver 100 per cent votes in this state and all over the country”.
