Justice Okon Abang of a Federal High Court, Abuja was on Tuesday told how the National Security Adviser (NSA), Major-General Babagana Monguno, sent a petition to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate the alleged collection of N400 million by the National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olisa Metuh, from the immediate past NSA, Colonel Sambo Dasuki (rtd).
Bali Ndam, a lawyer from Monguno’s office, said the petition was sent on November 28, 2015.
Like before, Metuh was also produced in court on handcuffs.
Ndam, the third prosecution witness for EFCC, said the money was collected in November 2014.
He was led in evidence by the prosecuting counsel, Sylvanus Tahir.
Ndam said “a list of companies and individuals, about 78 in number, was attached to the NSA’s petition to the EFCC and Metuh’s firm, Destra Investments Limited, was among the 78 beneficiaries of the ‎fraudulent payment”.
Immediately, the prosecuting counsel made an attempt to tender the petition and other documents, including the electronic mandate issued by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) to the Controller of the Abuja branch of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for payments in favour of the 78 beneficiaries.
This was opposed by the defence counsel, Onyechi Ikpeazu (SAN).
The judge later fixed Wednesday for the hearing of the application for variation of the bail terms, which Metuh’s lawyer said he had laboured unsuccessfully to meet.
