How doctors saved me from blindness, by Aiyegbeni

Former Super Eagles striker, Yakubu Aiyegbeni, has revealed that he almost quit football at the early stage of his career in Europe because he was going blind in one eye.
Ayegbeni said that his career almost finished before it had started.
He said: “It was very worrying. One day, I realised I could only see out of one eye and I thought my career might be finished almost before it had started.
“The club, Maccabi Haifa, I was then 17, got the best medical help money could buy to get the problem solved and it was discovered I had a serious cataract. When it was sorted out, the President of the Club reckoned that as I had scored seven goals with one eye, I would double it with two.”
“But when I came back, I did not score for three weeks and the President threatened to send me back to the hospital to reverse the operation. He said I was better with one eye.”
Ayegbeni eventually settled down with Maccabi Haifa and scored 24 goals in 49 games.
