How 53-year-old man who visited female friend died after being served food

The Police Command in Niger State has confirmed the death of a 53-year-old man who reportedly collapsed and died while visiting a young woman in Minna.

SP Wasiu Abiodun, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, disclosed this in a statement on Friday in Minna.

He said the incident occurred on January 27, about 10a.m., following a report received from the Tudun-Wada Division.

Abiodun said the deceased, who was from Bida, reportedly visited a friend at her residence along Niteco Road, Tunga area of Minna.

He said during the visit, the woman was said to have served the deceased some food, after which he allegedly began to convulse and later collapsed.

The PPRO said the deceased was immediately rushed to the General Hospital, Minna, where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor.

He added that the woman had been arrested in connection with the incident, while the corpse of the deceased had been deposited for examination to ascertain the actual cause of death.

He further stated that the families of the deceased had been contacted, and investigation into the matter was ongoing.

The command assured that further developments would be communicated to the public as investigation progresses.
