The Benue State National Assembly Legislative Aides Forum (BEN-NASSLAF) has condemned the recent attack on Rep. Philip Agbase (APC-Benue) and Rep. Solomon Wombo (APC-Benue)

Mr Norgba Orvave, the chairman of the forum, said this at a news conference held in Abuja on Wednesday.

“We condemn in the strongest terms the recent attacks on two of our Principals: Hon. Philip Agbese, member representing the good people of Ado/ Ogbadibo/Okpokwu Federal Constituency.

“Also attacked was Rep. Solomon Wombo, member representing, Katsina-Ala/ Logo/Ukum Federal Constituency”, he told newsmen.

The two lawmakers were attacked separately while in Markudi on April 18.

Orvave sympathised with Benue citizens that had been affected by the security challenges in the state and the country at large.

He commended efforts the Federal and State Governments had made so far to curb the menace of insecurity but added that the efforts should be intensified.

He said, “with respect to the state of political affairs in our state, we wish to state emphatically that unity and peace are crucial to the growth and development of any people.”

He called on all leaders to work together for the progress and prosperity of the state, while appealing to all parties to embrace peace in order to attract more development to Benue.

He called on those fanning the embers of discord to desist henceforth and give peace a chance, as any gains they might seem to be enjoying, he said, could only be short-lived.

He expressed solidarity with sons and daughters of Benue State serving the nation in various capacities, such as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume, Sen Abba Moro among others.
