Hostility heightens as 2014/2015 NPFL season winds down

League leaders, Enyimba International Football Club of Aba, will on Sunday face Warri Wolves FC, in an all important week 37 encounter of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
The match, which could be the decider of the 2014/2015 league winner, could earn Enyimba its sixth title in the league.
Both teams are the two most prolific clubs in the league that are fighting for supremacy in Aba.
Enyimba, with 68 points from 36 matches, need just a point to win the league title.
Wolves need the maximum three points to remain in contention should they win their next match and Enyimba slip.
The People’s Elephant, as Enyimba is popularly called, stand a better chance of winning the encounter having recorded five away victories and seven away draws.
But Wolves, on the other hand, have one away win and eight away draws in the 2015 league season.
The likes of Rangers, Abia Warriors, FC Taraba and Kwara United, succumbed to the playing prowess of the Peoples Elephant on their home grounds, while Wolves was able to subdue only FC Taraba in Jalingo.
Former champions, Kano Pillars currently on the eighth position with 52 points, would square up against Akwa United, while El Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri, slug it out with Wikki Tourist of Bauchi.
Wikki are seeking to consolidate their place in the top four.
Sharks of Port Harcourt and Kwara United continue their relegation battle in Port Harcourt, as a win for Sharks would see them swim out of the relegation waters.
A loss for Kwara United would keep them waiting until the last day of the league to confirm their status.
This would have to depend on the outcome of the encounter between Dolphins of Port Harcourt and Heartland of Owerri, in Port Harcourt.
Bayelsa United and FC Taraba will play for pride as both teams have already been relegated irrespective of the outcome of the matches involving Dolphins and Sharks.
A win for Bayelsa United against Sunshine Stars and FC Taraba against Abia Warriors, would make no difference as both the Yenagao and Jalingo based teams are on 19 and 20 position respectively.
Nasarawa United have every chance of making the top four should it win its encounter against Ifeanyi Ubah, in Nnewi and it final match against Giwa in Jos.
This will, however, be realistic if Giwa loses at home against Shooting Stars of Ibadan, in Jos.
The upward movement of Giwa on the league table could see them rattle Shooting Stars.
A win for Giwa who are comfortable on the fourth place with 60 points would guarantee their place in the top four and a continental ticket.
The encounter between Lobi Stars of Markurdi and Rangers Int’l FC of Enugu could be regarded as a friendly match as both teams have nothing to play for as it stands.
Rangers and Lobi are on the 13th and 14th place respectively on the league table.
Recall that Rangers popularly called “the Flying Antelopes’’ lost scandalously 5-1 in Lagos, to Sunshine Stars of Akure, in a rescheduled week 34 match.
