Hospital organizes outreach for police officers in FCT

The Silver Cross Hospital, Abuja, says it has provided free medical outreach for more than 100 police officers and their families at the Gwagwa Police Station, in the Federal Capital Territory.

Dr Patrick Ezie, the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, said that the medical intervention was part of its Corporate Social Responsibility and to provide access to health care delivery for its host and neighboring communities.

He noted that the gesture would go a long way in helping to improve the he overall healthcare of the police officers as they “are always on the frontline of providing security for residents of the community.

“This medical outreach is intended to provide quality and comprehensive medical care for the police officers and their families.

“We understand the importance of having a healthy police force, especially in a time when issues of insecurity is on the rise.

“In the course of this intervention, various medical conditions would be diagnosed and treated and those with complex cases would be referred to relevant health facilities for further evaluation.

“We will be providing free screening for HIV, Hepatitis B and C, Malaria, BP checks, Glucose checks and the free cervical cancer screening for the women.

“We will also be providing free eye checks as we know that issues of good eye sight is principal to their work”.

The DPO of Gwagwa Police Station, Adam Muktar, commended the hospital for the medical intervention, while calling on his colleagues to always take their health seriously.
