Venerable Ekene Nwafor, Anglican cleric in charge of Church of The Pentecost, Diocese of Awka, Anglican Communion, has called on families to hold fast to their unity.

He said that the nation was currently passing through economic meltdown which, if not well handled, could lead to home break ups.

Nwafor made the call on Sunday in Awka during his words of encouragement to the parishioners.

He advised husbands not to take the stress of the economic crunch hard on their wives or children, to avoid unnecessary cracks on the family unit.

Nwafor assured parishioners that good management of home affairs would make it easy to enthrone peace in the families.

He said that the country survived the COVID-19 Pandemic, as such, would survive the money swap crunch if people accepted the reality with calmness of spirit.

Nwafor appealed to women to show outstanding understanding with their husbands to run the affairs of the families peaceful.

He advised  parents to watch over their children so that the devil would not steal into their families at this challenging times of the country.

Nwafor urged the parishioners to ensure that they perform their civic duties on Feb. 25 by taking part in the general elections.

The clergy prayed for peaceful electioneering processes and prayed against any electoral uprising that might lead to blood letting.

“Peace and unity oh God is what we ask of thee; keep the nation under your care and grant your will to rule in this great country we pray.”

The Women Ministry of the Church launched their first program for the Mothering Sunday celebrations slated on April 19.

Mrs Chizoba Chukwuwike, the Chairperson of the 2023 Mothering Sunday Planning Committee, appealed to members to celebrate their biological mothers and figure mothers.

The Mothering Sunday Committee used wrapper as a launching project which attracted support from members of the Church.

Mrs Chinwe Nwafor,  wife of the Vicar, commended the parishioners who supported the women’s ministry activities for the upcoming Mothers Sunday celebrations.

She promised that the wrappers usually given to widows who were absent in the service, would be reserved and given to them.

Nwafor described the kind gesture of the members of the church as Christianity in action and urged for its sustainability.
