‘Handcuffed’ Metuh granted N400m bail for N400m offence

There was a mild drama at the premises of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Tuesday when the National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olisa Metuh, was brought to the premises from Kuje prisons.
Metuh, who was handcuffed, was surrounded by some prison wardens, and some PDP members, who had stormed the court, were surprised to see him “in chains”.
Some of the PDP members wanted to hail him but were angry with the way he was treated by prison officials.
However, others summoned courage and hailed him but Metuh could not answer them the way he would have done if he was not subjected to such an embarrassment before party members.
He managed to say a few words before he was taken inside the court.
Metuh appeared before Justice Okon Abang in connection with the N400 million he allegedly received from the $2.1 billion arms scam, involving a former National Security Adviser (NSA), Colonel Sambo Dasuki (rtd).
While granting Metuh bail, Abang ordered that he must pay N400 million as bond.
He is also required to produce two sureties in the sum of N200 million each.
The sureties must have properties in Maitama area of Abuja.
