Suspected gunmen have killed a woman and her daughter during an attack on a poultry farm in Ondo State, while security operatives successfully rescued two other victims.

The incident occurred on Thursday at Igushi community, via Ala, in Akure North Local Government Area.

According to reports, the assailants, believed to be about five in number, stormed the farm and carried out the deadly attack, targeting workers at the facility.

The farm owner and her daughter were reportedly shot dead during the assault, sparking renewed concerns over security in the area.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Ondo State, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, described the attack as tragic and condemned the actions of the perpetrators.

He disclosed that two individuals were rescued alive following a swift and coordinated response by security operatives.

Jimoh assured residents that the police had intensified efforts to track down those responsible and bring them to justice.

He added that additional security measures had been deployed to protect lives and property in the affected community.

The police spokesperson also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and support security agencies with credible information that could aid ongoing investigations.

The incident highlights ongoing security challenges in parts of Ondo State, particularly in rural areas where criminal activities such as kidnapping have been on the rise.
