Several Gulf nations, alongside the United States, have strongly criticised what they described as “reckless and indiscriminate” missile and drone attacks allegedly carried out by the Iran across parts of the region.
In a joint statement released by the United States Department of State, the governments said the strikes targeted sovereign territories, endangered civilian lives, and caused damage to infrastructure.
The countries involved include Bahrain, Iraq(including the Kurdistan Region), Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, along with the United States.
According to the statement, the attacks amount to a serious escalation that undermines the sovereignty of multiple nations and threatens stability in the Gulf and wider Middle East. The signatories emphasised that targeting civilians and states not directly involved in hostilities represents destabilising conduct.
The coalition reaffirmed its collective commitment to protecting national sovereignty and ensuring the safety of citizens. It also underscored its right to self-defence under international law.
Additionally, the governments commended ongoing cooperation in air and missile defence systems, noting that coordinated responses helped prevent more extensive casualties and destruction.
They reiterated their dedication to maintaining regional security and stability amid rising tensions.
