Guber tussle: Stakeholders raise alarm over Aisha Buhari, Kogi gov’s ‘romance’ aboard British Airways flight

These were some of the questions on the lips of stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State on Friday who raised the alarm over the meeting the duo had aboard the flight from London.
The stakeholders, through their Coordinator, Chief Dare Mayegun, alleged that relationship could compromise the ongoing petitions against the declaration of Bello as winner of last year’s governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
According to him, the trip of the duo from Britain aboard the same flight en route Abuja on Friday was suspicious, “especially at a time the Kogi State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal is still sitting”.
His words: “We are shocked to hear that Mrs Aisha Buhari and Alhaji Yahaya Bello sat together on the same flight from London to Abuja. They were on BA (British Airways) 082 which departed 22:40hrs on 7th April and arrived Abuja by 4.45hrs on the 8th of April. They departed at 2240hrs and arrived at 4.45hrs First Class cabin.”
“The new-found alliance needs much to be desired as it could compromise the tribunal sitting in which the governor is a party. We are raising this alarm to draw the attention of all lovers of democracy to the undercurrent that could truncate the wish of the electorate in Kogi State.”
The Concerned Stakeholders warned that any attempt to influence the decision of the tribunal “in favour of the wrong person will be resisted”.
