Yoruba Council of Youth Worldwide (YCYW), on Thursday tasked the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Ltd, on ending reoccurring fuel scarcity in the country.
Aare Hassan, President-General, YCYW, said this at a news conference in Abuja.
“I wrote a letter to Mr Mele Kyari, the Chief Executive Officer, NNPC Limited, which was copied to President Muhammadu Buhari on the issue.
“It all started with importation of adulterated fuel that caused millions of Nigerians unbearable damage to their vehicles without verifiable compensation or apology from the NNPC.
“Afterwards, the situation is getting worse with constant internal meddling and premeditated artificial scarcity with no genuine reasons.
“Subsequently, what Nigerians witnessed is the continuous astronomical hike in the pump price of fuel and diesel to the tune of 250 per liter and 750 to 850 per liter respectively,” he said.
Hassan said that the situation has created untold hardship on Nigerians.
“Businesses that rely solely on diesels are dying in droves on a daily basis, unbearable cost of transportation and movements of goods and services skyrocketed.
“As the supreme Council for all Yoruba Youths globally, we have no choice than to rise in defense of the Nigerian masses to seek an end to these issues,” he said.
