Group raises concern over alleged NIN misuse in Kwara membership registration

A pressure group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara has expressed concern over alleged misuse of National Identity Numbers (NINs) during a membership registration exercise in Ilorin.

The group’s coordinator, Mr Abdulganiyu Omowaye, in a statement on Saturday, called on party authorities to look into complaints raised by some members regarding how personal data were obtained and used.

Omowaye said the group received reports from individuals who claimed their NINs might have been used for registration without their prior knowledge, after initially submitting the information for other purposes.

He urged the party to verify the claims and ensure that all registration processes comply with legal and ethical standards.

According to him, addressing the concerns transparently would help safeguard members’ confidence and protect vulnerable groups such as pensioners and students.

The group appealed to the APC leadership to review membership figures from the area and strengthen oversight mechanisms to guarantee credibility and accountability in the exercise.

Omowaye emphasised the need for due process, noting that clarifying the situation promptly would help maintain trust in the party’s internal processes.
