Group lauds Ugwuanyi’s passion for healthcare delivery

Enugu State governor’s wife, Mrs Monica Ugochi Ugwuanyi, has been commended for her passion in improving healthcare delivery in the State through her pet project, Ugo Touch of Life Foundation (U-TOLF) which at present has collaborated with the United States of America (USA) -based Non-Govenmental Organisations, Faith Care foundation and Edwardian Foundation to organise free medical services for all ailments.

Enugu State Commissioner for Health, Professor Anthony Ugochukwu, Chairman, Enugu State University Teaching Hospital Board, Professor Eddy Nwobodo and the representative of Faith Care Foundation, United States of America, Dr Chido Nwana, gave the commendations in their separate speeches during the flag-off of the five -Day free medical outreach held at the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), Teaching Hospital, Parklane, Enugu,

The commissioner, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr Ifeanyi Agujiobi, said that the governors’s wife has done a lot in improving the health of the people of the state.
He said that the free medical services which was being carried out by Mrs Ugwuanyi ‘s pet project, U-TOLF in partnership with Faith Care and Edwardian foundations had registered 700 patients on the first day with 200 people treated same day and a surgery carried out.

Representative of the Faith Care Foundation, USA, Dr Chido Nwanna in her goodwill message , said that her organisation was partnering Mrs Ugwuanyi ‘s NGO, U-TOLF in the free medical outreach. She urged the beneficiaries to be appreciative of what the governor ‘s wife has done and was still doing for the people of the state and not to forget her efforts in providing free health care delivery to them.

Speaking, the chairman of the Enugu State University Teaching Hospital, ESUTH parklane, Professor Eddy Nwobodo said that Mrs Ugwuanyi has touched over 500000 lives in the state since the inception of her husband ‘s administration and urged her to keep the good work going.

Flagging -off the event, the wife of the Enugu State governor and founder, UFO Touch of Life Foundation, Mrs Monica Ugochi Ugwuanyi, thanked members of Faith Care for their partnership.
She urged the patients to avail themselves of the opportunity and access the free medical services provided them.
Mrs Ugwuanyi told them that arrangement has been made for a follow up by ESUTH parklane medical doctors after the free medical team must have gone back.

In his speech, the founder of Faith Care foundation, USA, Dr Peter Schratz, said that Faith Care foundation was founded in the United States of America and has existed for 20 years in Nigeria.
He disclosed that the free medical outreach in Enugu was their first in the South East zone. Dr Schratz told the gathering that the organisation was building a hospital in Nigeria. He said that their mission is to bring hope to the people, encourage the needy and let them know that there is hope in Jesus Christ.

Permanent Secretary, Enugu State ministry of health, Dr Ifeanyi Agujiobi, said that as at Tuesday morning. about 700 patients had registered with 40 patients for surgery. He disclosed that 200 patients were seen on Monday and one surgery performed, As at Tuesday morning, Doctors were there attending to patients while surgeons were in the thaerter, performing surgery.

According to him, all ailments including eye operation, dental operation would be carried out.
He urged residents of the state with any form of health challenge to avail themselves of this opportunity, accordingly.

The free medical services, which started on Monday, will last till Friday.
It is expected that about 3,000 patients will be attended to.
