APC

Edda Grassroots Organisations (EGO) has commended the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the appointment of Ebonyi State Commissioner for Internal Security, Border Peace and Conflict Resolution , Stanley Okoro Emegha, as Caretaker Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ebonyi State chapter.
Applauding the Chairman, Caretaker/ Extra-ordinary National Convention Planning Committee of the APC and Governor of Yobe state, Mai Mala Buni and Governor of Ebonyi state, Engr. David Umahi for their efforts in re-positioning the APC in Ebonyi state, the Coordinator of the group, Comrade Steven Orji, stressed that it was long overdue for Ebonyians to integrate into the centre.
While describing Umahi as a pragmatic, compassionate and patriotic leader with vast experience in party affairs, governance and leadership, the group highlighted the giant developmental strides of the Umahi-led state government, adding that the people of Ebonyi state will sustain their support for the Governor in his political sojourn.
The group noted that with the defection of Umahi from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, the Governor will strengthen ties with the federal government in a bid to further attract federal projects to Ebonyi state.
In a statement issued in Abakaliki on Thursday, the group passed a vote of confidence on Umahi, stressing that the Governor’s defection was in the best interest of the state.
Orji, the group’s coordinator said, “the defection of Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. David Umahi, from the PDP to the APC is a positive decision.
“Looking at the massive transformation of Ebonyi state under the watch of Umahi, it is obvious that the Governor is a selfless and patriotic leader, who is passionate about the growth and progress of Ebonyi state.
“Despite the slim resources of the state, Umahi has brought to bear his robust experience as an Engineer, to build roads, bridges, international market, model schools and other projects in the State.
“The Governor’s accomplishments has endeared him not only to Ebonyians but Ndigbo in general.
“Ebonyi State is now a reference and benchmark for other states in the areas of infrastructural regeneration, agricultural revolution, commerce and effective and efficient public service.
“With Umahi in the fold of the APC, his achievements, will be complemented with federal projects across Ebonyi state.
“The Governor has taken a courageous and timely decision in the interest of Ebonyi state and its people.
“We pledge our unflinching support and undoubted loyalty to Umahi and by extension the APC in a bid to take Ebonyi state to enviable heights”
The group, noted that with the appointment of Emegha as Caretaker Chairman of the APC in the state, the party will be strengthened and harmonised , adding that the Commissioner is a grassroots mobiliser and consummate politician, with the wherewithal to advance the cause of the APC across Ebonyi state.
Orji, cautioned political jobbers and speculators against political blackmail and character assassination, stressing that politics is not a do-or-die affair but a platform to improve the common lots of the people.
The group expressed appreciation to President Muhammadu Buhari for his determined efforts in building and sustaining a united, indivisible and prosperous Nigeria, while urging Ndigbo to support the federal government’s efforts in building critical infrastructure across the South East region.
